Making the complex easy and understandable
About Us
xplane is an international engineering design group specialising in the design and optimisation of conveying systems and passenger technology within the aviation and logistics markets.
We provide independent design and advisory services to airports or asset owners for automated conveying, sortation and distribution systems.
xplane was founded in 2015 to provide independence within the aviation and logistics markets. xplane continues to grow internationally as a recognised name for independence and excellence.
The xplane Directors each have over 25 years experience in the industry, and have worked on projects in all corners of the globe.
How We Started
2025 marked the 10 year anniversary since Roeland, Scott and John founded the company. Back in 2015 we were all ready for something different and saw the need for airports to have independence advice on baggage systems, and with the idea that we could make a difference for airports.
All three of us had been working in the industry for some time and had all worked both together and in competitor system integrator companies. John and Scott first met in 1989 when they started on the same day in a Fisher & Paykel business unit developing a PLC. The first time all three directors worked together was for the Qantas check bag screening BHS projects in Australia (2004/2005), with John and Roeland working for the infamous Phil Bowyer’s BSM as consultants, and Scott’s company Sentech Software was contracted to provide the Airflow HLC software for Qantas.
With starting xplane, there is nothing like sacrificing a regular monthly income for $0 in the bank and just a belief we can make the sales happen, and they did happen pretty quickly. We called the Atomic Café in Kingsland, Auckland our ‘city office’, with regular early morning meetings fuelled by good strong coffee (a signature aspect of xplane).
